Our community partner for October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, is Looking for My Sister. Looking For My Sister combats domestic violence through support programs in Wayne County. (http://www.lookingformysister.org) We will be collecting items for two of their support kits. We are looking for personal/hygiene items for women and then also supplies for children, including diapers (all sizes), baby toiletries, formula, bottles. Please bring something to share.

Join DSG to toast the new year at Greenwich Time Pub for our first community connect of the year. Celebrate 2010 with a budget-friendly toast and save room for dinner, as Greenwich features home-made soups and one of Detroit's best burgers (Detroit Free Press). We are beginning a two month project with Project Helping Hands. This multi-agency organization takes multidisciplinary care to the streets to serve the homeless in Detroit. In January, we'll be collecting materials for hygiene kits, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and deodorant.

Third Thursday is "Anything Goes" night at the Rathskeller featuring live piano with Mike Montgomery & Kerry Price from 7:30 on. Plan to have dinner and sing along at this Detroit landmark. It will be quite a night. This is our second month in a two month project with Project Helping Hands. This multi-agency organization takes multidisciplinary care to the streets to serve the homeless in Detroit. In February, we are collecting materials around warmth: gloves, hats, socks, and scarves.
