Saturday: Shop Detroit Midtown!

Our 5th Annual Shop Detroit event continues this Saturday, December 6th, in Midtown and the University/Cultural Center! Read below for details on special deals and fun events going on throughout the day!

11am to 4pm! Check in, grab a bag, take a tour, shop till you drop!

Check In | Willy's Overland Lofts | 444 W. Willis.
Shop during the day and stay for Noel Night for one exciting time in Midtown! Over 30 institutions, including the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Detroit Science Center, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the Detroit Historical Museum, and the Detroit Public Library, among others, open their doors to the public free of charge during this Cultural Center-wide holiday "open house."

Check out what's hopping—from museum gift shops to hip boutiques, this neighborhood's retailers will be all decked out with holiday hype. The evening will be filled with fun and sparkle and music and other festivities!

Shopping Bags! Get a nifty, reusable tote bag filled with a map and store directory and other good stuff when you check in. This will identify you as a SD participant and be your ticket to great offers. Bring it back on the other Shop Detroit days, and keep filling it up!

Sales, Special Offers, and Surprises! Most participating merchants are doing something special! Below is a sampling of what to expect!

  • 2009 Detroit. It's Worth It. Calendars available at Willy's Overland Lofts and Zacarro's Market for $15
  • Detroit Artist's Market, 20% off selected merchandise
  • Detroit Historical Museum Shop, 15% off total purchase (we have Tiger's memorabilia, too!)
  • Tulani Rose, 10% off Carol's Daughter products
  • Source Booksellers, 10% off discounted titles, 50% off selected clearance items
  • Flo Boutique, no sales tax on Shop Detroit participants' purchases

Walking Tours | Departing from Willy's at Noon and 2pm Sponsored and conducted by our friends at Inside Detroit (http://www.insidedetroit.org), each tour will highlight retailers, history, and insider information! Think you know it all? Meet the shop owners and get a behind the scenes look at some real Detroit gems. It's a great way to see the sights and get your holiday shopping done!

Parking: Metered street parking (Willis and Canfield recommended); limited parking is also available at the MOCAD on Woodward. We do not recommend the Traffic Jam/Motor City Brewing Works lot, as you may be asked to pay or move if you're not patronizing those eateries.

Volunteer!

We still need volunteers to help distribute fliers far and wide, deliver posters to merchants, and help staff our check-in table on each event day—two hour blocks are recommended, but you can take more shifts if you want! You can volunteer, then hit the streets!

Email the Shop Detroit Team at shopdetroit@detroitsynergy.org if you can help out in any way!

Thank you!
