2008 Pedal For Power with THAW, DTE, WWJ, and the YMCA
Up one levelWWJ presents the 5th annual signature event, the Winter Survival Radiothon for THAW, the Heat And Warmth Fund of SE Michigan, in the lobby of the Boll Family YMCA on Friday, February 8 – Saturday, February 9. “Pedal for Power” utilizes a special bike hooked up to a generator in an effort to light up a “beacon of warmth” which is our symbol of hope and success to keep SE Michigan families and elderly warm and out of "shut off." If we can help keep the bulb lit for the entire 31 hours of the Radiothon, DTE Energy double matches the last hour of donations during the WWJ Radiothon which means that we can keep many more families from losing their heat because of shut off.

- Pedal for Power is a special part of the 2008 WWJ Winter Survival Radiothon for THAW, The Heat And Warmth Fund of SE Michigan. Taking place in the lobby of the Boll Family YMCA (downtown Detroit), Detroit Bikes! has been asked to cycle to support the enduring spirit of helping those in need. If you are interested in cycling for even 30 minutes, especially from 1pm to 5pm on Friday, Feb 8th, please sign up for your time slot by contacting the event organizers for more information. - Pedal for Power is a special part of the 2008 WWJ Winter Survival Radiothon for THAW, taking place at the Boll Family YMCA (downtown Detroit), starting at 5 AM on Friday, February 8, and running until the close of the Radiothon at noon on Saturday, February 9, 2008. Proceeds from last year's Radiothon helped thousands of metro Detroit families keep their heat and electricity on during the cold winter months.
