Detroit Synergy's Steering Team exists to support projects and facilitate internal coordination, communication and collaberation. This is the volunteer "staff" of the organization, and serves the Detroit Synergy's projects by faclitating connections to internal and external resources. Join current steering team members and get connected!
The Steering Team is chosen through an open selection process. Applicants are invited to an interview with the Steering Team and are selected based on experience, enthusiasm and commitment.
Project Chair Openings: Project chairs are the liasons between the new projects and the Steering Team, supporting project leaders from conception to completion. 1) The Dialogue Project Chair works with project leaders who plan events and projects that foster the exchange of ideas. These projects bring Detroiters together to share ideas, information and experiences such as Discourse Detroit and Coffee Talks. 2) The Discovery Project Chair works with project leaders who plan events and projects that showcase Detroit places and experiences, familiar and new. These projects illuminate the uniqueness of Detroit and increase awareness of all the city has to offer.
Additional Steering Team Openings:
Finance Chair Are you CPA certified and interested in a volunteer opportunity in your community using your accounting skills? The finance chair is responsible for the organization's fiscal management and facilitates project revenue & expenses.
Partnerships Chair A core principle of Detroit Synergy is that projects partner with community organizations or entities whose work relates to the project theme, audience, or location. The partnerhsips chair works with projects to identfiy and connect with community partners for greater impact.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICATION
In cover letter form, please answer the following sets of questions:

- Why do you feel that you would be the best person for this job?
- Why do you want to be a part of the steering team of DSG? Why do you want to take on this particular position?
- With the goals of DSG in mind, describe what you feel is critical to achieve next year in your position.
- Describe your vision of Detroit in the future and describe how you see that DSG is important in that vision.
The Steering Team does take into consideration but is not limited by review of applicants' skills, experience and enthusiasm. We also review but are not limited to reviewing the professional presentation of application materials and interviews.
Steering Team members are expected to attend almost all General Meetings (General Meetings occur every 2nd Thursday of the Month), most Synergy events, attend 2-3 planning retreats per year and attend steering team meetings (Steering Team meetings occur every 4th Thursday of the Month)
