New Ideas for Detroit

DETROIT, Michigan.  Thursday, March 9, 2005.  100 people from across Detroit and around the region gathered to share their ideas for Detroit at our March general meeting.

Pages and pages of brainstorming were scribed and scrutinized, then members made their top three picks. Those were combined into new project initiatives and new teams. Look for updates, planning meetings and other details on these and many more great project ideas: Belle Isle Music Festival, Woodward "Dream Cruise" Extension, City to Suburbs Outreach, Detroit Synergy Junior, Adopt-A-School, Transportation Focus Group. For more information - development@detroitsynergy.org

Detroit Bikes! Bike-to-Work Day 05.19.2006

Detroit Bikes! speeds off to another great season of Motor City rides that highlight the ease and positive impact that biking, for transportation, recreation or excercise, can have on our physical health and social connectivity.

The first event in the 2006 series will be Detroit Bikes! to Work Day 05.19.2006.  Yes, you CAN bike to work. "Gathering Centers" within urban districts will guide our path down the Woodward Cooridor, allowing participants to join the main ride or to gather before taking their own route to their place of work.

Starting near Downtown Royal Oak, at the Transit Station on 11 Mile near Washington, the main objective is to promote the awareness of cycling on Detroit area streets and ride from a local gathering place to your workplace destination.

Project team members and volunteers are needed for planning and PR and for the day of the event. If you want  to make a change, join in to make Bike to Work Day in Detroit a reality for years to come!

Date: Thursday, May 19th 2006
