SHOP Detroit; Your Holiday Alternative!
Make a trip to the streets of downtown Detroit for a fun and festive holiday shopping experience! Enjoy the festive urban atmosphere, unique stores, easy parking, no long lines, merchant discounts, great eateries, local artists, free people mover transportation and more!
Shop Detroit will kick off at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 11th and the fun will continue until 5:00 p.m. Meet between 11:00 and 4:30 in the atrium of Compuware World Headquarters at 1 Campus Martius in downtown Detroit. Parking is also available in the Compuware Parking Structure at 1 Campus Martius.
Over forty retail stores will participate in this semi-guided shopping experience. Shoppers will receive:
*Map of the area with suggested walking and People Mover paths.
*Free People Mover pass for the day.
*List of shops that are participating in Shop Detroit.
*Special discounts and promotions at each shop.
*Coupon for a 10% meal discount from Hard Rock Cafe, plus a list of other dining options
Some of the shops that will participate include Borders Books & Music, Biegas Gallery, Jos A. Bank Clothiers, Made in Detroit Clothing in Greektown, Pangborn Design Collection, Pure Detroit, Rosa's Fashions on Woodward Avenue, the Lofts of Merchants Row and more than thirty others.
"Detroit has everything to offer for holiday shopping and Detroit Synergy has developed a terrific event to spread the word," said Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. "I encourage everyone to support this project and Detroit retailers."
Detroit Synergy is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. Its Mission is to generate positive perceptions and opinions about Detroit by bringing together a diverse community and building upon the city's strengths and resources to realize a common vision for a greater Detroit.
