Projects are at the heart of Detroit Synergy.  They are the glue connecting diverse and varied communities to the positive energy of Detroit.  Likewise, they are the leadership of Detroit Synergy, providing the organization with direction, energy and vitality.

Below is a list of potential projects brainstormed during our General Meeting last Thursday.  They are organized into dialogue, discovery and development projects.  A conceptual description accompanies each project idea.  The descriptions are not set in stone, rather they merely provide guidance for project groups. 

Interested in joining or leading a project?  Drop the appropriate Project Chair an e-mail and they'll get you connected with others interested in the same project.  These projects will be discussed further at this week's Urbanopolis Happy Hour, occurring this Thursday, 5 pm at the Motor City Brew Works on W. Canfield in Midtown. 

Proposed Development Projects

Online Relocation Info Guide.  Categorize all that is good happening in Detroit.  Create an online website connecting the good together.  Provide information regarding urban relocation opportunities and information for residents, businesses and others.

Campus Martius Park Table Game Tourney.  Create a unique fundraiser in the heart of Detroit.  Bring your favorite table games.  Compete, etc.  Raise money for DSG and other good organizations.

Fall in the City.  Family friendly event incorporating traditional fall-centric events, such as hay rides, Halloween, harvest festivals, wagons and food

Downtown Loft Home Tour.  Plan a downtown loft tour.  Go beyond the model units.  Engage downtown's new residents in showing off their new urban digs.  Modern, industrial, clean -- all can be highlighted!

Neighborhood Recycling.  Create a program promoting neighborhood recycling initiatives. 

Neighborhood Clean-Ups with Block Party Afterglow.  Interested?  It's already happening.  Contact Jen at clean@detroitsynergy.org for more information.

Community Organization Network.  Work with other grassroots organizations to provide a resource sharing activism guide.  Such a guide will help organizations organize.

The Signage Project.  How many times have we seen it?  An awesome business with little signage.  Create a project engaging local artists in a sign creation program for local businesses.  Connect the creative energy to the business market.

Proposed Discovery Projects

Belle Isle, Uncovered.  Plan a scavenger hunt, a wine tasting, a fall color tour, a picnic fundraiser or a bike tour.

Blitz Tour of Detroit.  Plan weekly blitz tours of Detroit Neighborhoods.  Engage local tour organizations, such as Preservation Wayne. 

Detroit Foreign Language Club.  Create that cosmopolitan atmosphere that Detroit deserves through promoting the speaking of foreign languages.  Foreign language coffee nights, tutor sessions with local schools, etc.  Engage new communities into the positive change that is Detroit through foreign languages.  

Monthly Bus Tour w/DDOT.  Create a tour using only D-DOT Bus Passes. 

Boat Centric Happy Hour.  Plan a happy hour aboard Diamond Jacks or the Detroit Princess.

Single Mingle Outdoor Dance Party/Events – Urban dance party?  Detroit Homecoming with a remember when theme?  Singles networking events?  All would be explored in this project.
