Steering Team members provide special coaching, leadership skills and organizational knowledge to DSG project teams and project leaders.  Steering Team positions are volunteer positions and enable Team members to experience a high level of community involvement and commitment.

We also take applications for Steering Team leadership on a rolling basis.  Such applications will be held until an opening in any Steering Team position occurs.  Once such an opening occurs, applicants will be notified and the interview process begins.

In addition to specific position descriptions, as a full member of the Steering Team, you would be expected to:

• Be available to attend monthly General Meetings, Third Thursdays, and Steering Team meetings; bi-annual Steering Team Retreats and Advisory Board meetings; and most Detroit Synergy sponsored events.
• Plan and facilitate at least one General Meeting a year.
• Participate in general organizational decision making on all matters, with a special eye to overall organization needs, and being able to work on a concensus basis.

You heard it here first, our application process is simple, educational and fun!  Merely fill out the application, attach a resume and any other cool information about you and e-mail it to our friendly Administrative Coordinator.  You'll be contacted shortly to schedule an interview with DSG's Steering Team. 

The interview is casual and fun.  Steering Team learns about you, you learn about Steering Team and Detroit Synergy.  We like to look at interviews as a conversation amongst peers about community involvement and Detroit's bright future. 

Once all applicants are interviewed, Steering Team makes a decision, via consensus, about whose skill set best matches DSG's structure and guiding principles.
